What is the real problem here?

Every year at the same time we start getting calls. A villa pump in Dubai suddenly stops working. A booster system in Dammam loses pressure. Can’t keep it up. A borewell pump in Ruwi breaks down in the middle of summer. These are three countries, with three different systems but the story is usually the same.

If you have a water pump that is always failing in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar or Oman it’s probably not bad luck.. It’s likely not the pump itself thats the issue. From our experience pump failures usually happen because the supplier didn’t consider the heat, water quality, power supply or pump size when choosing the pump.

At Pokhara Motors we’ve been supplying pumps, motors and industrial equipment across the Middle East since 2011. Every year we get the calls. Below we’ll explain whats really going on and what we do differently to avoid these problems. We know what works in the Middle East. We look at the causes of failures. We identify what a good water pump supplier in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Oman does differently.

Whats Actually Killing Your Water Pump

A water pump rarely fails because of one reason. Usually it’s two or three small problems that add up and the motor, seal or bearing just can’t take it anymore. Here are the common issues we see:

Heat soak

Ambient temperatures above 45°C can damage motor windings and seals. This is especially true for pumps installed outside in rooms with no ventilation or on walls that face the sun. These are setups in UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Oman. A motor that overheats for one summer might survive,. One that overheats every summer for three years usually doesn’t.

Water quality

Much of the regions water is desalinated or has levels of dissolved solids. This causes scale to build up inside the impeller and corrosion around seals faster than pumps designed for areas with soft water can handle. As scale builds up the pump has to work to move the same amount of water and the motor uses more energy than it was designed for.

Sand and sediment

Pumps in Oman inland Saudi Arabia and inland UAE often pull water that contains fine sand and grit. Without an impeller and bearing that can handle abrasion the sand slowly wears away the pumps parts until it loses efficiency and eventually fails.

Voltage instability and constant cycling

Construction sites and farms that use generators or properties at the end of a grid line often experience voltage swings that standard motors aren’t designed to handle. Every voltage spike or dip puts stress on the windings, which adds up over time.

The wrong size from day one

Many pump failures happen because the pump is the size. An oversized pump turns on and constantly because it moves water too quickly and every startup uses a lot of energy that heats the motor. An undersized pump runs continuously and never gets a break. In either case the pump is working against its design.

Dry running

This is a common problem in boreholes and wells especially in Oman and parts of Saudi Arabia and UAE where the water table drops with the season. A borewell pump without a low-water cutoff or float switch keeps running after the water level drops below the intake. A pump can burn out from running in minutes.

The wrong replacement part

When the original pump didn’t come with available genuine parts, a generic seal or bearing is often used. This might get the system running again. It usually only lasts a few extra months before the same problem happens again.

None of this means you need an expensive or special pump. It means the pump needs to be sized and specified by someone who has seen these problems before and knows how to solve them. That’s what an experienced water pump supplier in UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Oman can offer, than just picking a pump off the shelf.

Which Water Pump Is Best for Which Application

When you are buying a pump getting the right type is very important. This is because the right pump helps prevent a lot of problems that can happen. Let me tell you how the pumps from Pokhara Motors can be used in life.

Multi Stage Pump

Multi Stage Pump is very good for houses buildings with many floors and farms that need a lot of water pressure over a long distance. The Multi Stage Pump can pump up to 28 meters of water per hour and can lift water up to 60 meters high. It needs 0.75 to 4.0 kilowatts of power to work. The Multi Stage Pump is really good for places that need an steady flow of water.

Self Priming Pump

Self Priming Pump is the choice when the water is below the pump like in a basement or an underground tank. The Self Priming Pump can pump up to 96 meters of water per hour and can lift water up to 26 meters high. It needs 1.1 to 5.5 kilowatts of power to work. This type of pump is very useful because it can draw water up from a place without needing any help.

Swimming Pool Pump

Swimming Pool Pump is made for pools in houses and hotels in the UAE and Qatar. The Swimming Pool Pump can pump up to 24 meters of water per hour and can lift water up to 22 meters high. It needs 0.37 to 2.2 kilowatts of power to work. The Swimming Pool Pump is a choice for pools because it is the right size.

Borewell Pump

Borewell Pump is strong. Can handle the sand and dirt that is often found in well water in Oman, Saudi Arabia and some parts of the UAE. The Borewell Pump is a choice for getting water from underground.

Booster Pump

Booster Pump helps keep the water pressure steady in buildings where the water pressure’s low especially during busy hours. The Booster Pump is very useful because it helps keep the water flowing.

Jet Pump

Jet Pump is small. Works well for shallow wells and basic household needs. The Jet Pump can pump up to 5 meters of water per hour and can lift water up to 50 meters high. It needs 0.75 kilowatts of power to work. The Jet Pump is a choice because it is small and uses less power.

Submersible Pump

Submersible Pump can be put underwater. Is used for deep wells draining water and removing water from construction and farm sites. The Submersible Pump is very good for jobs that need a pump to be underwater.

Peripheral Pump

Peripheral Pump is good for houses and small businesses that do not need a lot of water. The Peripheral Pump is a choice for small jobs.

Centrifugal Pump

Centrifugal Pump is an all-around choice, for moving water in houses, businesses and small factories. The Centrifugal Pump is very useful because it can be used in different situations

If you are unsure which one suits your site that is the question you should ask before making a purchase. It is not the question to ask after the wrong choice has already failed and caused problems.

Why It Matters Where Your Water Pump Supplier Is Actually Based

When a pump breaks the real test is what happens next. Can you get a real replacement part on the day or do you have to wait three weeks for it to arrive by ship? Is there someone who has seen this exact problem before on a similar site? This is where a local water pump supplier in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Oman shows its value compared to an importer who just ships in parts on demand and then disappears.

UAE

Our main office in Sharjah keeps a range of parts in stock and supports projects in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah. We help with villa developments, hotel pools, construction sites and irrigation networks. As a standing water pump supplier in the UAE we offer same-day support as a normal service.

Saudi Arabia

We have branch offices in the Eastern Province, around Dammam and in the Western Region, around Jeddah. Pokhara Motors works as a water pump supplier in Saudi Arabia meeting the needs of residential, agricultural and facility maintenance customers in both areas.

Qatar

Doha is growing fast with infrastructure and real estate projects. This means pumps need to be chosen from the start with local support available if something goes wrong. Our branch in Qatar works as a water pump supplier offering the same range of parts and technical support as in our other markets.

Oman

The demand for borewell pumps in Oman is very high for agricultural and residential use. Failures often happen here due to running. Our Ruwi branch is a water pump supplier, in Oman stocking pumps that can handle local groundwater conditions, including sand-tolerant borewell and submersible options.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my water pump keep failing in UAE?

It usually happens because of heat soak or the voltage from the generator is not stable or I just got the wrong size pump for the job. A good water pump supplier in the UAE will check the power supply. Make sure the motor is the right size from the start.

Why do borewell pumps burn out so often in Oman?

This is mainly because of sand wearing down the impeller or the pump is running dry as the water table drops. A water pump supplier in Oman who knows about the groundwater will fit parts that can handle sand and add a low-water cutoff.

Why does my water pump in Saudi Arabia keep losing pressure?

This usually happens because of scale from TDS water that is narrowing the impeller or the booster pump is too small. A water pump supplier in Saudi Arabia with the range can fix this problem properly instead of just patching it.

What’s causing my water pump in Qatar to keep switching on and off?

This always happens because the pump is the wrong size. If it is too big it cycles too often and wears out the motor fast. A water pump supplier in Qatar should size the pump to your demand not just sell you the next size up.

Is it normal for a water pump to fail every year?

No it is not normal. A water pump that is the size and properly protected should last several years. If it fails every year it usually means the wrong pump was chosen.

Can fitting the wrong spare part cause the same failure to happen again?

Yes it can. If I use a seal or bearing instead of the genuine part it will usually only delay the same failure by a few months.

Does Pokhara Motors supply water pumps across UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Oman?

Yes Pokhara Motors does. Through their offices in Sharjah, Dammam, Jeddah, Doha and Ruwi they. Support water pumps, in all four countries directly with stock and technical guidance available locally.
